Transfer a Customer’s Credit Balance
Utility Management’s Transfer Balance feature has been enhanced to allow credit balance transfers.
Users have long been able to transfer a customer’s charge balance from one account to another. For example, if a customer relocates to a new residence within the same service area, any remaining charge balance associated with their previous account can be easily transferred to the new account via Utility Management’s Transfer Balance feature in Customer Service. This is a very simple process of transferring an amount from an inactive account to a new active account.
In 2019.1, enhancements have been made to give users the same ability to transfer a customer’s credit balance from one account to another. There are multiple scenarios in which this new feature will be useful, but perhaps one of the more common scenarios is the following: A customer relocates to a new residence within the same service area and then attempts to make a payment toward their new location but mistakenly makes a payment against their previous location. Their old account now has a credit and their new account still has a charge due.
In earlier releases of New World ERP, there is no easy way to correct the customer’s mistake; it would likely require a considerable amount of manual discovery on the user’s part to set things right. Now, however, it’s as easy to transfer a credit balance from one account to another as it is a charge balance. The process is the same, except one transfers a charge balance and the other a credit balance.
Since the transfer process itself has not changed, it is not detailed here. If you would like more information on balance transfers, please see the following:
